(1596-1669), came to Massachusetts from England in 1635. He was pastor of the church in Dorchester from 1636 till his death. He drew up the celebrated "Cambridge Platform" of church discipline, aided in making the New England version of the Psalms, and published an elaborate defence of the New England churches. He was an able and a powerful preacher.
