An American missionary; born at West Springfield, Mass., March 12, 1805; died in Chicopee, Mass., Dec. 31, 1869. He was educated at Amherst and Andover. In 1833 he went to Persia as a missionary, and was active in establishing schools in that country. His works include: "Residence of Eight Years in Persia" (1843); "Missionary Life in Persia" (1861).
