An American historical writer; born in Cottage, N. Y., May 11, 1854. Has written several local histories. Among his works are to be found: "Old Abe, the Wisconsin War Eagle" (1880); "The Life of Matthew H. Carpenter" (1883); and a "History of the Republican Party" (1884); "International Deep Waterways"; "Life of E. M. Stanton".
