The name of a root, Sumbuli radix, Jatamausi, Musk-root, presumed to belong to the Umbelliferae family, much employed in Russia and Germany against cholera. Its exact botanical history is not determined. It contains a strongly odorous principle like that of musk; and is regarded as an antispasmodic.
