An Italian poet (1505-69). He was long the intimate friend of Pietro Aretino, and his rival in licentiousness of verse; at Rome he was punished repeatedly for his offenses against decency, and at last hanged for his satires against Pius V. Among his works are: "Popular Epistles" (1538); "Piscatorial Eclogues"; "Priapea".
