A Polish dramatist; born in Cracow, 1839. Among his numerous historical dramas and comedies are: "King Don Juan" (1869); "Hunyadi" (1870); "Francesca da Rimini" (1873); "The Oath" (1878); "King Boleslav the Bold" (1882). He also wrote valuable essays on Polish literature.
